Updating to High Sierra 10.13.2 Breaks Compatibility with the Fast Track Pro

CAUTION: The following post is likely of interest only to tech folks. Feel free to skip if that's not you. Then again, it seems like every day an update for our computers is pushed that breaks something, slows the system down, or makes another seemingly ridiculous change, so you may want to keep reading.

Just Do It?

Earlier today I sat down to write a post about a new found clarity I have about using ThisADHDLife as my primary home in this online world. As I was typing away, I thought, "Hmm, you should hop on Twitch and see if anyone wants to chat."

That lead to a quick rearrangement of my desk and the firing up of my audio Interface, the depreciated Fast Track Pro, for the first time in a few months. After 20 minutes of trying to get audio into my broadcasting software, I gave up and resorted to a quick search.

Or Not

Turns out that something in the latest release of OSX, the operating system on my Mac, has broken the connection between my Mac and the FTP. It's comforting to know I'm not alone, but maddening that I have no recourse but to buy something new. I'd like to say I'll keep this post updated if I find a solution, but I'm pretty sure that won't happen.

My ADHD brain wants to turn this simple project into a series of research tasks aimed at the goal of purchasing the perfect solution. Luckily, I considered upgrading to a full-blown audio mixer months ago and did some research then. With some effort, I'll be able to cut my brain off at the pass, make a decision and buy something new in the next couple of weeks*.
